Laser Assisted Periodontal Therapy
LANAP (Laster Assisted New Attachment Procedure)

The Nd/Yag laser we are using has the ablity to help us:

- carry out the new FDA approved therapy referred to as LANAP.
- kill bacteria that have penetrated into the periodontal tissues
- not only decrease bleeding , but actually increase the speed of clotting for any procedure
- selectively remove diseased tissue while leaving healthy tissue virtually unharmed
- decrease the pain of many of our traditional procedures
- stimulate the bone and soft tissue to reduce inflammation

Dental Implants

Everyone should be able to chew comfortably, laugh with confidence, and awaken each day with a smile. For those who are missing natural teeth, dentures or partial dentures often compromise comfort, confidence, and self-esteem.

Dental Implants are positioned into the bone to provide a stable foundation for the attachment of a single tooth, bridge, or full upper or lower dentures. The presence of Dental Implants in the bone can also help preserve the bone in your jaw.

Sedation And Pain Control

There are many new techniques available to help reduce the anxiety associated with dental therapy. The newer medications make you feel very relaxed and comfortable, but it is not general anesthesia. So, it is a very safe way to be relaxed while you have your therapy.

This kind of sedation is especially needed for patients with medical problems that can be aggravated by the stress of dental therapy. High blood pressure is a very common condition that is best managed with a sedation strategy.

It is possible to do more work in one visit when using this kind of conscious sedation technique, and that reduces the number of visits needed to complete your care.

We are routinely able to complete all of the initial therapy you need at one appointment and with high confidence say that you will not experience any pain and probably won't remember your visit. Because the effect of the medications only lasts 30-40 minutes after the last dose, we can plan the case so that by the time we are finished, you will be able to walk out after resting in our recovery area for 15-20 minutes. You will need a ride home since you are not supposed to drive for 24 hours.

Genetic Testing

Thirty percent (30%) of the population is more susceptible to the severe forms of periodontal disease because they amplify inflammation! Now, there is a simple test to determine if you are in this group. Knowing that you are genotype positive will help us understand more about your case, help determine therapy approaches and better predict outcomes. Patients who are PST positive lose teeth three (3) times faster than a PST negative individual. PST positive patients that smoke have a tooth loss rate that is eight times faster than a nonsmoking PST negative patient.

The MyPerioPath® salivary diagnostic test identifies the type and concentration of specific perio-pathogenic bacteria that are known to cause periodontal disease. MyPerioPath® helps determine which bacteria are contributing to your infection and thus use the most appropriate antibiotics when necessary.

HPV testing: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is one of the most common virus groups in the world. According to the Centers for Disease Control, at least 20 million people in the United States are infected with HPV and there are approximately 6 million new cases each year.

Oral HPV is a manifestation of the HPV virus in the mouth, and is primarily found in the oropharyngeal complex. Specific types of oral HPV are now considered to be separate and serious risk factor for developing oral cancers. Early detection and identification of the presence or absence of oral HPV is important, as early oral HPV infections do not typically cause any clinical signs or symptoms.

The OraRisk® HPV test is a non-invasive, easy-to-use screening tool to identify the type(s) of oral HPV, a mucosal viral infection that could potentially lead to oral cancer. OraRisk® HPV enables the clinician to establish increased risk for oral cancer and determine appropriate referral and monitoring conditions.
