Gum Grafting

Gum recession is often one the most noticeable symptoms of gum disease. Exposure of the root of the tooth can cause extreme sensitivity, cavities, and aesthetic concerns with your smile. Gum recession is the process in which your gums become inflamed and are absorbed or dissolve, leaving the root of the tooth exposed and giving the appearance of having longer teeth. Whether gum recession is causing you discomfort or negatively affecting your appearance, we are here to help you find a solution.

Dr. Peavy uses a variety of new procedures to repair and improve areas of recession that do not require the removal of tissue from the roof of your mouth. The collagen of other mammals is so similar to ours that once it has been processed, it can be used as a substitute for the palatal tissue once needed. AlloDerm is a collagen product from human donors and has been used for many years in periodontal and many other types of reconstructive surgery.

The latest technique is referred to as the “Pinhole” or Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation Technique and the initial incision is made with a needle instead of a scalpel!
